Jakarta: Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received and responded to the initial report from the United Nations (UN) regarding the deaths of three Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers belonging to the UN Peacekeeping Force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon on March 29 and 30.

The government firmly urges the UN to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victims and bring the perpetrators of the attack to justice.

Acting Director of International Security and Peace at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Veronica Vicka Ancilla Rompis, stated that the government has noted the results of the initial investigation and is now demanding concrete steps for accountability.

"The Indonesian government requests that the UN complete its investigation thoroughly. We also support UNIFIL's ability to submit a formal protest to the relevant parties," said Rompis in a press statement at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

Given that this process is still in its early stages, Koman emphasized that the government is closely monitoring the progress of the full report.

If the final investigation results align with the initial findings pointing to the involvement of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Indonesia is prepared to take decisive diplomatic action.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also continue to urge the UN to pressure the relevant authorities to promptly prosecute and ensure full accountability for the perpetrators of these crimes against peacekeeping personnel.
