TNI Commander Urges Public to Promote Peace and Avoid Provocation

Jakarta: Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, along with several ministers from the Red-White Cabinet, attended a limited meeting chaired directly by President Prabowo Subianto at the Hambalang Residence, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

The meeting reviewed the current situation in the country, focusing on two main issues of presidential concern: the security and handling of an incident in which an online motorcycle taxi driver was killed after being run over, and the dynamics of recent public demonstrations that were deemed inconsistent with Law No. 9 of 1998 on the Freedom to Express Opinions in Public.

Commander Agus stressed the importance of maintaining calm and unity within society.

“I urge all citizens to work together to create a sense of safety and peace throughout Indonesia. Do not be easily provoked by irresponsible calls that could ultimately harm ourselves and the community,” Agus said.

He further emphasized that any issues arising within society should be resolved wisely, prioritizing dialogue and upholding legal principles. This approach is crucial to prevent escalation that could negatively impact collective interests.

“Let us resolve problems through deliberation, and of course, in accordance with applicable laws,” Agus added.

The synergy between the government, TNI, and the police is seen as key to addressing security challenges, maintaining national stability, and ensuring the unity and cohesion of the nation amid evolving situations, all for a peaceful, safe, and secure Indonesia.
