Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia's support for international peace initiatives is based on a strong commitment to realizing a two-state solution with an independent Palestine as the only path to peace.
This statement was made by President Prabowo Subianto during his meeting with the Hashemite King of Jordan, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, at the Basman Palace in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, local time.
"When we were invited to join the Peace Council and support President Trump's 20-point plan, it was all with the view and effort to do everything we can to achieve a lasting solution," Prabowo said, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
The Head of State emphasized that Indonesia is ready to play an active role in various international forums. This is to strengthen its diplomatic position in promoting a resolution to the conflict, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank.
The President also emphasized the importance of close coordination with Jordan. This is because the country led by King Abdullah II is most closely connected to the dynamics of the conflict in the region.
Furthermore, Prabowo stated that developments in the West Bank require serious attention because they have the potential to impact stabilization efforts in Gaza.
Therefore, more intensive cooperation between Indonesia and Jordan is considered crucial so that both countries can continuously monitor the latest developments and respond quickly.
In addition to expressing support for the peace plan, Prabowo also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to continue standing with regional countries in fighting for the rights of the Palestinian people. This step also reaffirms Indonesia's consistent foreign policy position in supporting Palestinian independence through diplomacy and international cooperation.
At the meeting, President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia.
