Indonesia Condemns Missile and Drone Attacks on UAE Oil Refinery

Jakarta: The Indonesian government expressed deep concern over reports of missile and drone attacks targeting oil refinery facilities in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.
These attacks risk escalating tensions, violating the ceasefire agreement, and disrupting global energy supply chains and security, with impacts that could extend to countries beyond the region.
"Indonesia urges all parties to exercise restraint, fully respect the ceasefire agreement, and uphold international law, including the protection of civilian infrastructure," the Indonesian government stated in a statement quoted by X, Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
"Indonesia is ready to support various de-escalation efforts and prioritize dialogue to promote sustainable peace and stability in the region," the statement added.
All Indonesian citizens are also urged to remain calm, increase vigilance, and consistently follow the directions of the local government and the Indonesian Mission in the United Arab Emirates.
Iran Denies Allegations
Iran's armed forces have denied launching missile or drone attacks against the UAE in recent days.Iranian state media outlet IRIB reported that the spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters denied the existence of the military operation on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The statement emphasized that any military action would always be announced transparently through official channels.
Citing Anadolu, the spokesman also rejected the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense's accusations, calling them baseless.
He warned that if any attack on Iran were launched from UAE territory, Tehran would respond "firmly and regrettably."
Furthermore, Iran accused the UAE of allowing the United States (US) and Israeli forces to operate from its territory. Tehran also urged Emirati authorities not to use the country as a base for what it called hostile forces.
