President Prabowo Holds Limited Meeting to Tackle Forest Fire and NTT Disaster

Bogor: President Prabowo Subianto led a limited meeting at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, from Sunday evening until night, August 23, 2026.

The meeting discussed efforts to tackle forest and land fire and management of impacts of disaster in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

“Sunday, 23 August 2026, since evening until night, President Prabowo Subianto summoned some related ministers and officials to discuss on several strategic issues,” said cabinet secretary (seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya when was contacted in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, August 24, 2026.

The meeting was attended by cabinet ministers, heads of agency, until senior Indonesian military (TNI) officials, such as State Secretary Minister (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, Chief of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) M. Herindra, Chief of Agency for Development Control and Special Investigation (BP2IK), Commander of TNI General TNI Agus Subiyanto, Vice of TNI Commander General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita, and three Chiefs of TNI Staff.

Prabowo asked for a report on the follow-up to his instructions regarding disaster management in NTT as well as accelerating the aid distribution from the central government.

“At the last meeting session with the Commander of TNI and Chiefs of Staff, the President discussed the follow-up to the president’s instruction regarding support that has been instructed to be distributed to Kalimantan and NTT area, especially the ones by air,” said Teddy.

The government also ensures to add 17 planes for water-bombing operations and deploy 1.500 additional troops, along with their individual equipment. These efforts are carried out to overcome forest and land fire in Kalimantan.

Moreover, 200 pumps and pipes are also distributed to help the effort to extinguish underground fire or peat land.

At that meeting, President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to all TNI personnel and members of National Police who have responded swiftly on the ground to tackle forest and land fire and disaster management in NTT.
