Jakarta: In celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah, PTPN IV PalmCo, a subsidiary of the PTPN III (Persero) Plantation Subholding, has distributed more than 61 tons of qurban meat to communities and employees across Indonesia. The initiative not only reinforces spiritual and social values but also plays a meaningful role in supporting national food security.
This year, a total of 1,834 sacrificial animals — comprising 1,522 cows and 312 goats — were slaughtered during the two-day observance of Eid, according to PalmCo President Director Jatmiko Santosa. The final figure reflects an increase from earlier estimates just days before the holiday, which stood at 1,697 animals.
“These efforts resulted in around 61,000 meat packages, each weighing one kilogram, distributed to employees and residents in over 50 districts and cities — from Sumatra and Java to Kalimantan and Sulawesi,” said Jatmiko in an official statement.
The company’s employees across various work units led the sacrifice process, which was supported by local volunteers, community leaders, and a dedicated organizing committee. In remote regions where PalmCo operates, the distribution brought much-needed protein to underserved populations.
“We are grateful that the entire qurban activity this year ran smoothly,” Jatmiko added.
“This practice not only fulfills religious obligations but also symbolizes the spirit of mutual cooperation, social care, and shared prosperity among our team,” he Added.
The annual program also benefits from an internal contribution scheme where employees can allocate a portion of their salaries monthly to participate in the sacrifice. This approach has allowed more staff to be involved, including factory workers like Figeh Setyono.
“I joined the qurban program through monthly salary contributions with colleagues. It was heartwarming to know that my own family also received a portion of the meat. It truly feels like being part of one big family,” he said.
Residents, too, expressed their appreciation. Ahmad Fauzan of Pemuda Village in Pelaihari, South Kalimantan, praised the quality and organization of the distribution: “Alhamdulillah, the meat is clean and well-packaged. We always look forward to this moment every year. Thank you for your generosity.”
Through its annual Eid al-Adha program, PalmCo continues to blend religious devotion with concrete social impact, fostering unity and improving food access across the archipelago.
