Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto stressed that the state must be present to make its people’s life easier instead of difficult.

The president also told to execute bureaucratic reform so that the government’s programs can be impactful to the people appropriately.

“The country (Indonesia) must make its people’s life easier instead of difficult. I am talking not only about the central government, I am also talking about the regional government, the provincial government, and the regency government,” stated Prabowo at the State Address at the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD) in the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, August 14, 2026.

Prabowo highlighted the realization of the government’s programs that are considered not impactful to the people appropriately. He told the government to examine the problems through the people’s point of view as the beneficiary.

“Ask the people, they are the first who will tell that the programs often are not delivered to the people,” explained the President.

In accordance with Prabowo, that condition is one of reasons for bureaucratic reform, both at the central and regional level is needed.

Highlighting The Complicated Bureaucracy

Prabowo said that the bureaucracy must not hinder right decision-making. He acknowledged that Indonesia still suffers from cumbersome and inefficient bureaucracy.

“Bureaucracy must not hinder a great decision. We must admit our state’s problems include cumbersome bureaucracy, bureaucracy that runs inefficiently,” affirmed Prabowo.

He also highlighted the abuse of power and authority by rogue bureaucrats for personal, family, and group gain. “The bureaucrats often use their power and authority to enrich themselves, enrich their families and groups. We must combat it,” he declared.

The President also stated that the bureaucracy problems must not be covered up, particularly amidst the digital era and the age of information transparency.

“We are not covering it up, now is the digital era and the era of information, there is no use we cover it up. We must overcome these problems,” said the president.

Prabowo claimed the solving of bureaucracy problems needs cooperation between the leaders and the political groups. As stated by him, an inefficient and corrupt bureaucracy can result serious effects to the country.

“And it needs a unity between all of the leaders and political groups, because inefficient bureaucracy, a corrupt bureaucracy will ruin a country,” remarked Prabowo.
