Cilacap: The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) confirmed that the Search and Rescue (SAR) operation to locate seven victims missing from a landslide in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, will resume today, November 18, 2025. The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, stated that today's search will focus on three main locations.
"The search for victims will focus on worksites A1, B1, and B2," Abdul stated in an official statement received on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
He said the search operation began at 5:30 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The search operation will utilize five main methods to expedite the recovery of the seven victims who are still missing.
The sixth day of operations began with drone flights to detect the initial conditions of the disaster site and conduct early mitigation before the team went into the field. Once declared safe, the team will deploy search dogs (K9) to search for possible victims under the pile of material.
"If indications are found, heavy equipment will be immediately deployed to expedite the evacuation process, under close supervision from all SAR personnel in the field," said Abdul.
Furthermore, the team will use modern and manual extrication equipment to reach areas that heavy equipment cannot reach. The final method is the use of alcohol to assist in combing through landslide material more efficiently.
SAR operations will continue to be carried out optimally by combining technology, field analysis, and combined efforts from various SAR elements.
