New York: President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping forces under the umbrella of the United Nations (UN).

“Our world today is driven by conflict, injustice, and deepening uncertainty,” said President Prabowo at the UN General Assembly in New York, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, local time.

“Every day we witness suffering, genocide, and a blatant disregard for international law and human decency. In the face of these challenges, we must not give up. As the Secretary-General of the United Nations has said, we must not give up,” the President emphasized.

“We must not give up on our hopes or aspirations. We must grow closer, not further apart. Together we must fight to achieve our hopes and dreams,” the President added.

The United Nations was born from the ashes of World War II, which claimed millions of lives. According to the President, this organization was formed to ensure peace, security, justice, and freedom for all.

"We remain committed to internationalism, multilateralism, and every effort that strengthens this great institution," said President Prabowo.

The President also explained that Indonesia is now closer than ever to achieving the sustainable development goals of ending extreme poverty and hunger.

He said the UN Assembly chose to listen and uphold social and economic justice, a position that Indonesia will not forget.

"And today, we must not remain silent while the Palestinian people are denied equal justice and legitimacy in this forum," said President Prabowo.

In his speech, President Prabowo recalled the words of the philosopher Thucydides, who warned that the strong do what they can, the weak bear what they must. According to the President, all parties must reject this doctrine.

"The United Nations exists to reject this doctrine. We must defend all, both the strong and the weak. The strong cannot be right. The right must be right."

Indonesia is currently one of the largest contributors to UN Peacekeeping Forces. President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia will continue to serve wherever peace needs to be safeguarded.

"Not just with words, but with troops on the ground. If and when the UN Security Council and the General Assembly decide, Indonesia is ready to deploy 2,000 or even more of our sons and daughters to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere," said President Prabowo.

"In Ukraine, in Sudan, in Libya, wherever peace needs to be established, peace needs to be maintained, we are ready. We will share this burden, not only with our sons and daughters, but also with financial contributions to support the United Nations' great mission of achieving peace," concluded President Prabowo.
