Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Paris late Monday for a state visit, where he is scheduled to meet French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on Tuesday.
Prabowo departed Moscow after concluding a five-hour meeting with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin earlier that day.
“The president is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Macron at the Élysée Palace to discuss strengthening strategic cooperation between the two nations,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement quoted from Antara, Tuesday April 14, 2026.
Wijaya said the meeting would be a key moment for Indonesia to present its strategic perspectives on global dynamics, including the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which is currently under a ceasefire.
“During the meeting, the president will not only strengthen cooperation with the French government but also convey Indonesia’s position on maintaining stability and promoting world peace,” he said.
Upon arrival in Paris, Prabowo was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar, Defense Attaché Air Marshal Hendra Gunawan, and several French officials.
This marks Prabowo’s second visit to Paris in 2026, following his January trip, during which he accepted an invitation from Macron for a meeting and dinner at the Élysée Palace.
Prior to this, Prabowo was received at the Élysée Palace on July 14, 2025, and earlier on July 24, 2024, when he was still president-elect.
He also hosted Macron and his wife, Brigitte, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on May 28, 2025. The visit marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France.
