Jakarta: The Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters Information Center, Major General TNI (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, explained the function of the Aid Battalion, which will be sent on a peacekeeping mission in Gaza, Palestine. They are tasked with providing various support.

"One of the Aid Battalion's functions is to provide logistical support, distribution of humanitarian aid, and supply chain management," Freddy said, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The Aid Battalion also functions to regulate troop transportation by land, sea, and air. This arrangement is necessary to ensure orderly and well-monitored troop movements.

Furthermore, this battalion will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning of troop communications equipment in the operational area. "Their next task is to provide communications support, IT, and command and control, as well as securing vital facilities in the operational area," Freddy explained.

To carry out these various tasks, the TNI has prepared troops with specialized technical expertise. However, these troops are not part of the TNI's special forces units.

"The reinforcement units come from various branches of the military, not special forces, but contain personnel with special capabilities according to mission requirements," explained Freddy.

Previously, it was reported that the government would send troops from the Health Battalion and the Construction Engineer Battalion to carry out a peacekeeping mission in Gaza, Palestine. Recently, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto stated that three battalions would be deployed, along with an additional battalion, the Assistance Battalion.

Agus explained that the three battalions are part of three composite brigades prepared by TNI Headquarters. All peacekeeping troops will be sent after the TNI sends an advance team to the Gaza region.

The advance team was dispatched so the TNI can assess the situation in Gaza and determine the exact location for the troop deployment.

However, Agus did not specify when the troops would be sent. He only confirmed that TNI Headquarters is awaiting orders from the central government regarding the troop deployment.
