Johannesburg: Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Natsir stated that several G20 member countries are encouraging increased cooperation with Indonesia, including in agriculture, during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

"We are meeting with several African countries because they want to increase economic cooperation," Arrmanatha said in a press statement from Johannesburg on Saturday evening.

As quoted by Antara, Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha stated that the six bilateral meetings held by Indonesia with G20 member countries generally discussed efforts to increase bilateral cooperation in the economic sector, particularly in coffee.

The Republic of Angola, for example, has requested that Indonesia learn about developing civet coffee cultivation.

In addition to Angola, Deputy Foreign Minister Tata stated that India also desires similar cooperation. "So, this cooperation relates to more advanced economic matters, but also fundamental ones," he said.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tata added that the G20 Summit in South Africa concluded the series of leadership roles for developing countries.

"And this demonstrates that the Global South is not just a spectator in global governance, especially in the economic sector, but also a co-driver," he said.

Global Challenges

This can be seen from the agreed-upon Leaders' Declaration, including issues of interest to developing countries, such as debt management, disaster risk reduction, and challenges to the global international financial system.

Furthermore, Deputy Foreign Minister Tata also highlighted the steps taken by the South African G20 Chair or President to review the G20's role over the past 20 years.

From this review, South Africa wanted to examine the G20's strengths and the challenges facing G20 member countries over the past 20 years. This was deemed crucial for determining the future direction of the G20, Deputy Foreign Minister Tata said.

The G20 Summit in South Africa addressed various global challenges across three sessions. The first session addressed issues of sustainable economics, the role of trade and finance in development, and debt issues in developing countries.

The second session focused on building a resilient world, encompassing disasters, climate change, a just energy transition, and food systems.

The third session addressed decent work and the governance of artificial intelligence.
