Kuala Lumpur: President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of strengthening concrete cooperation and ensuring that competition in the region remains constructive. This was conveyed by the Head of State during his intervention at the 28th ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC), Malaysia, on Monday, October 27, 2025.
The Head of State emphasized that this new chapter in regional cooperation is taking place amidst complex global challenges, ranging from climate change, disruptions to international trade, and rising geopolitical tensions. He stated that these challenges directly impact the lives of people in the region.
"For Indonesia, these are not abstract risks. These are real pressures on our farmers, our young generation, and the important role we play in the global supply chain," President Prabowo emphasized as quoted from Setkab.go.id.
Furthermore, the Head of State highlighted that the latest ASEAN Plus Three Regional Economic Outlook report demonstrates the resilience of the economic region, but also cautioned that stability cannot be taken for granted. Therefore, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of strengthening regional integration, trade diversification, and financial safety nets as core elements of the APT agenda.
"Indonesia recognizes the contribution of trilateral cooperation between China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea to the entire region. To maintain continued growth and protect against external shocks, deepening this trilateral cooperation through regular summits and ministerial meetings will be crucial," said President Prabowo.
In the context of this same concrete cooperation, President Prabowo emphasized the enhancement of the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) to ensure stable food supplies and strengthen emergency response between countries through better information exchange.
Furthermore, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of fully implementing the APT Cooperation Work Plan (2023–2027) and strengthening the Chiang Mai Multilateralization Initiative as concrete steps to deepen regional economic and financial cooperation. Indonesia, the President continued, fully supports the ratification of the ASEAN Plus Three Leaders' Statement on Strengthening Regional Economic and Financial Cooperation.
"Let this aspiration maintain our relevance and foresight in building a better future for the region," said President Prabowo.
Concluding his intervention, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining a spirit of healthy competition amidst increasingly intense global dynamics.
"I will conclude by reaffirming a fundamental truth: competition is inevitable and the engine of progress. However, to truly drive progress, competition must be constructive," President Prabowo concluded.
