Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto attended the memorandum of understanding or MoU between the Ministry of Defense and the Secretariat of Defense Industry of the Republic of Turkey. The two countries have completed cooperation related to the procurement of 5th generation fighter jets.
The signing was carried out by Secretary of Defense Industry Haluk Gorgun and Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. In that momentum, Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan.
The procession was carried out on the sidelines of the Indo Defense Expo & Forum event at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta. Before witnessing the signing, Prabowo had time to see several defense products owned by Turkey.
In the signing area, a miniature of the 5th generation KAAN fighter jet was visible. The aircraft is gray.
Previously, the President of the Defense Industry Secretariat (SSB) of the Republic of Turkey, Haluk Gorgun, had met with President Prabowo Subianto, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Friday evening, May 16, 2025. Through his official Twitter account @halukgorgun, he revealed that the meeting discussed the potential for cooperation that had occurred between the two countries, especially in the defense industry.
"It is a great honor for me to be received by His Excellency the President of Indonesia, Mr. Prabowo Subianto. During the meeting, we had an in-depth discussion regarding the various efforts being made to transform the partnership strategy into a real project, in line with the vision of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his strong support for our national defense industry," Gorgun wrote.
