Jakarta: The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has confirmed that gas station services in flood- and landslide-affected areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra have been almost fully restored.

Head of the National Command Post for the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, Erika Retnowati, said post-disaster recovery was prioritized during the command post’s monitoring period for the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

“We continue to ensure optimal fuel distribution to the public through intensive coordination with all relevant stakeholders,” Retnowati said in Jakarta on Monday, as quoted from Antara, Tuesday 6 January 2026.

She explained that the recovery efforts focused on restoring normal energy distribution in areas impacted by flooding and damaged infrastructure.

In North Sumatra, all 406 affected gas stations have resumed operations. Similarly, in West Sumatra, all 147 impacted stations are fully operational.

“In Aceh, 151 out of 156 gas stations, or around 97 percent, have returned to service,” she added.

Retnowati noted that restoration efforts were conducted in stages, with strict attention to safety standards and the condition of supporting infrastructure in each location.

Beyond infrastructure recovery, the command post also carried out field inspections to ensure fuel distribution remained safe and stable.

These inspections covered 55 districts and cities across 22 provinces during the monitoring period. The results showed that fuel supplies to the public remained secure.

Severe floods and landslides struck the three provinces in late November 2025 following prolonged heavy rainfall.

Data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as of Monday, January 5, show that the disasters claimed 1,177 lives and displaced at least 242,200 people.
