Purbaya Targets National Poverty Rate of 6–6.5% in 2027

Jakarta: Indonesia’s Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, is targeting a reduction in the national poverty rate to 6–6.5% in 2027. 

The goal of reducing the national poverty rate is being pursued alongside efforts to drive economic growth to 6% in 2027. 

“Solid economic stability and growth, supported by effective fiscal policies, are factors driving the acceleration of poverty reduction,” Purbaya said during a meeting with Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. 

The Finance Minister is optimistic that solid economic growth, supported by effective fiscal policies, can accelerate the reduction of the national poverty rate. 

In addition to poverty reduction, the government has set several other development targets for 2027. The open unemployment rate is targeted to be in the range of 4.30–4.87%.

Meanwhile, the Gini ratio is targeted to be in the range of 0.362–0.367, while the Human Capital Index is targeted to reach 0.575. 

The government also targets economic growth of 6%, with inflation maintained at 2.5%. Meanwhile, the 10-year government securities (SBN) yield is estimated at 6.9%.  

Rupiah Exchange Rate Set at Rp17,500 per US Dollar

For the rupiah exchange rate, the government estimates it will be at Rp17,500 per US dollar. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP) is set at USD75 per barrel.

In the energy sector, oil lifting is targeted to reach 612,500 barrels per day, while gas lifting is targeted at 954,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. 

In the 2027 Draft State Budget (RAPBN), state revenue is planned to reach Rp3,496 trillion, while state expenditure is set at Rp4,097.29 trillion. The budget deficit is maintained at 2.40% of gross domestic product (GDP). 

Previously, Purbaya said that poverty and unemployment rates in Indonesia declined in 2025. The open unemployment rate in August 2025 stood at 4.85%, down from 4.91% in August 2024. 

Meanwhile, the poverty rate fell from 8.57% in September 2024 to 8.25% in September 2025.
