Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto stressed his commitment towards combating corruption. According to him, that thing is a key for Indonesia becoming a strong and independent country.
That commitment was conveyed in his welcoming speech during the 35 Muktamar congress of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in Jombang, East Java, Thursday, August 27, 2026.
“We must be brave to fight corruption, because corruption has caused much of our wealth to be lost, being taken abroad,” said Prabowo, quoted from the written statement, Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Prabowo stressed that abundant natural resources will not be sufficient if corruption and budget leakage continue to occur. Therefore, the government starts to take decisive action to close the leaking gaps to ensure the country’s wealth can be fully enjoyed by the public.
“But we are starting to close, we are starting to stop that. Insyaallah, our country will be stronger,” said Prabowo.
Besides closing the leaking gaps, efficiency and budget savings implemented by the government are reported to have generated funds until hundreds trillion rupiah. All budgets from savings are directed for public welfare programs, especially for poor people and those who are in need.
“That is the money that we use to help the poorest people, the most helpless as much as possible,” said Prabowo.
