Indonesia and Thailand Establish Joint Trade Commission

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto and Thailand Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul agreed to strengthen economic and trade ties by establishing a Joint Trade Commission (JTC).
 
“The Joint Trade Commission will serve as a new bilateral mechanism to expand business opportunities and address trade barriers between Indonesia and Thailand,” Prabowo said in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Monday, August 3, 2026.
 
“Economic cooperation remains the cornerstone of our bilateral relationship. We are optimistic that we can increase annual trade with Thailand to USD20 billion by 2030 through the implementation of our strategic partnership roadmap,” he added.
 
Beyond trade, the JTC is expected to facilitate investment, improve market access, and deepen partnerships between businesses in both countries.
 
The two governments also pledged to bolster cooperation on food security through joint efforts in agricultural technology, logistics, food processing, and supply chain development.
 
In the energy sector, both nations agreed to promote and convene an Indonesia-Thailand Energy Forum to enhance regional energy security and accelerate clean energy transition through closer collaboration between their governments and the private sector.
