President Prabowo Hands Over Airbus A-400M to Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto handed over an Airbus A-400M/MRTT Alpha 4001 aircraft to Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto. The handover took place at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Prabowo removed the curtain displaying the Air Squadron 31 logo and sprinkled flowers on the aircraft's fuselage. The Head of State also inspected the aircraft.

The handover was marked by the symbolic handover of the keys, signifying the aircraft's readiness for operation by the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU). Prabowo handed the keys to Agus Subiyanto.

According to a video broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, the keys were then handed over to Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU), Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono.

Arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base

The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU)'s largest transport aircraft, the Airbus A400M, landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Monday, November 3, 2025. The aircraft's arrival was greeted with a traditional Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) water sprinkling ceremony.

Antara reported at the scene at 7:45 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), the aircraft was seen passing through a shower of water fired by fire trucks from the right and left sides of the aircraft. The aircraft's arrival was immediately greeted with applause from all TNI AU officers and several invited guests present at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense had signed a contract for two Airbus A400M aircraft for the TNI AU in multirole tanker and transport configurations. The contract, signed on the sidelines of the 2021 Dubai Airshow, is effective in 2022 and includes a comprehensive maintenance and training support package.

On that occasion, the Ministry of Defense also signed a letter of intent for the future acquisition of four Airbus A400M aircraft. The Airbus A400M is a reliable tactical transport aircraft, capable of delivering personnel and cargo to various terrains.

For strategic transport, the A400M can transport heavy and wide-sized goods and logistics equipment. Its maximum payload capacity is up to 37 tons. The A400M is the first large airlifter capable of transporting heavy loads, such as 80-ton fuel trucks and excavators.

Furthermore, the aircraft can transport 116 personnel fully equipped and ready for combat. It can also transport Patriot launchers, HEMT trucks, nine military pallets, and 54 personnel at a time.
