Jakarta: The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that discussions regarding the implementation of the Board of Peace (BoP) have been temporarily suspended due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
This decision was made in response to the escalation of conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang emphasized that all discussions regarding the BoP are currently suspended. The Indonesian government prioritizes the protection of Indonesian citizens (WNI) and maintaining national security stability amidst the unstable situation.
“Indonesia's current diplomatic focus is ensuring the safety and protection of Indonesian citizens in conflict-affected areas, as well as preparing anticipatory measures to address escalation,” Yvonne said at a Ministry of Foreign Affairs Press Briefing in Jakarta on Friday, March 6, 2026.
This statement echoes Foreign Minister Sugiono's statement on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, which conveyed continued coordination regarding the BoP, or Peace Council, for the time being.
"There have been no special meetings or discussions regarding the BoP in the past week," Yvonne added.
Yvonne also emphasized that every decision regarding Indonesia's participation in various international mechanisms will be based on considerations of its independent and active foreign policy and domestic interests. The government continues to conduct a comprehensive assessment of developments in the Middle East before taking further steps.
Indonesia consistently supports humanitarian values ??and the Palestinian struggle for independence. The Indonesian government will continue to actively seek the most effective means and play a constructive role in various international forums to achieve a just and sustainable peace for the Palestinian people.
