Inferno Destroys 51 Homes, Displaces 159 Residents in West Java  

Jakarta: An inferno engulfed 51 houses in Kampung Adat Cipta Mulya, West Java, causing severe damage and displacing 159 residents.
 
In addition to homes, the fire also destroyed a place of worship, an early childhood education (PAUD) center, public sanitation facilities, and traditional rice storage and milling facilities. 
 
“The suspected cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit,” Abdul Muhari, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency’s (BNPB) Center for Disaster Data, Information, and Communication, said in Jakarta on Monday, July 27, 2026, as reported by Antara.
 
“The fire has since been extinguished, and joint teams have begun clearing the debris,” he added.
 
The Sukabumi Regency Government has set up field kitchens, evacuation tents, logistics posts, and health posts to assist affected residents.
 
The BNPB has also prepared emergency aid consisting of 100 food packages, 50 family kits, and two portable toilets.
 
Of the 159 affected residents, 132 residents have taken shelter with relatives, while the remaining 27 are staying in evacuation tents at the Kasepuhan Cipta Mulya field.
