Jakarta: A total of 127 families in Kampung Bilik, RW 07 and 08 Kamal, Kalideres, West Jakarta, are threatened with eviction. A 65-hectare plot of land in the area will be used as a Public Cemetery (TPU).

"The sub-district office has collected data. During the socialization last week, they were asked to vacate the land independently," said Dirja Kusuma, Head of the West Jakarta Parks and Urban Forestry Sub-agency (Sudin Tamhut), when contacted in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Kamal Sub-district Head, Edy Sukarya, stated that 113 families have Jakarta ID cards. "The rest are not Jakarta residents; some come from Tangerang and other areas," said Edy.

The West Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Agency (Sudin Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman) is offering residents with Jakarta ID cards (KTP DKI) the opportunity to occupy apartments (rusun). However, this authority rests with the West Jakarta Public Housing and Settlement Agency (Sudin Perumahan Rakyat dan Kawasan Permukiman).

Edy urged residents to immediately register the number of affected families. This way, every apartment unit located near Kampung Bilik can be registered immediately.

"The government actually wants them to be registered as soon as possible. Why? For example, if there are closer apartments, that's better. Even if they move, it's still March 27 (2026), after Eid al-Fitr. But if they move later, the availability of apartments is limited, and there are many interested parties," said Edy.

Responding to residents' requests for a written agreement, Edy stated that he would follow up on the matter. "We also have to respond to their aspirations (written agreement) so they are willing. That way, they won't be exploited by irresponsible parties," Edy said.

Clear data collection and documentation can prevent outsiders from exploiting this issue in the future. "So, if we've already registered our people, there won't be any additional data, based on mutual agreement," said Edy.
