100 Celebrities Talk for Paralympic

Jakarta: As the world marvels at the grandeur of the Olympics, there is one extraordinary community that often goes unnoticed: the Paralympic athletes. They are symbols of resilience, perseverance, and the unbreakable human spirit and yet, support for them, especially from celebrities, remains scarce.

This is what inspired me to start the “100 Celebrities Talk for Paralympic” movement, an initiative born from the belief that happiness is a gift from God, and these athletes truly deserve it.

This project is a non-commercial collaboration between the Maria Monique Last Wish Foundation and the ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF), fully supported by Secretary-General Senior Colonel Wandee Tosuwan, and endorsed by Asian Paralympic Committee CEO Tarek Souei.

The concept is simple yet meaningful: 100 kind-hearted celebrities are invited to contribute three sentences of love and encouragement to Paralympic athletes across Asia.

No advertisements. No sponsors. No commercialization. Pure moral support.

Why in written form? Because a single sentence from someone admired can shine as a light of joy for an athlete in the middle of their struggle. And when 100 voices unite, the world begins to listen.

With faith and prayer, I chose Deepa Malik as the first Asian Celebrity to join “100 Celebrities Talk for Paralympic.”

Deepa Malik is a national icon from India and the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympic Games. She is also the former President of the Paralympic Committee of India and a Board Member of the Asian Paralympic Committee.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi once said: “The whole nation salutes your achievement.”

Bollywood stars also voiced their pride: “Deepa Malik, you make all of India proud.”

— Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Divya Dutta, Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill

It’s fair to say that Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Amitabh Bachchan and others are true fans of Deepa Malik — because of her extraordinary fight for the Paralympic cause.

Deepa Malik even recorded a special video inviting celebrities around the world to join this movement of love and solidarity.

The second Asian celebrity is the late Nick Bhirombhakdi (former President of the Paralympic Committee of Thailand and owner of Singha Group). Thanks to Nick, every Thai Paralympic athlete has a documentary aired on television.

I have also extended invitations to Her Royal Highness Ashi Euphelma Choden Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan, as well as actor Lee Jang Woo, brand ambassador of Crocodile, whose CEO in Thailand is the singer of the official APSF Anthem.

Other invitees include Thai celebrity Nandhamalee Bhirombhakdi, Managing Director of Cavallino Motors Ferrari Thailand, and her daughter, Thai singer Beam Voranan, to also share their support in this campaign.

From Indonesia, the first support came from the late Titiek Puspa, a legendary figure in Indonesian arts and culture. She gave a truly touching message of love to Boccia athletes — a message full of strength and compassion that will forever be remembered.

Further support came from Delon Thamrin, Merpati Band, Luvia Band, Andrigo, and Christian Kertawiguna, all of whom sent messages of love to the Paralympic athletes through the support of Nagaswara.

Japan also joins in sending love to Paralympic athletes. Maki Hoshino (Maki Starfield), who once dreamed of meeting aliens, became a world champion in painting and poetry.

Yukina Mebuki, a former senior singer of the famous Takarazuka Revue, also shares her heartfelt message.

Wayne Su also sent his touching message.

Support has also come from Wen Pin Chen (Best Actor at the Golden Horse Film Festival in Taipei) and Wayne Su, a talented young director from Taipei who has received many international awards. His touching message:

“Your spirit doesn’t just inspire our region — it ignites hope for the world. Every step you take is a symbol of strength and a part of history.”

“Keep moving forward with courage. You are extraordinary, the heroes of Asia and ASEAN!”

These heartfelt celebrity messages will become a lasting legacy for the Paralympics in Asia and ASEAN.

The official launch of this project will be held on July 11, 2025, in Singapore, in collaboration with the Singapore Disability Sports Council and Ital Auto Ferrari, and will be opened by the Secretary-General of APSF and Mrs. Siti Marifah, the eldest daughter of the former Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

This launch event will also highlight two inspiring teens from the Retachar program by MMLWF: Daniella R. Citra and Jadrianna A. Sutrisno, who are also co-founders of Rumah Inovasi, actively championing inclusion and diversity among the younger generation.

I now call on celebrities across the world to lend their support to “100 Celebrities Talk for Paralympic.”

“This is a journey of faith — in search of 100 Celebrities chosen by God, who can give three sentences of love to Paralympic athletes.”
