Jakarta: The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, made a state visit to Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. From the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, the plane carrying the President and his limited entourage took off for Brunei International Airport, Bandar Seri Begawan at 07.00 WIB.
The President's departure to Brunei Darussalam was seen off by the Commander of the Jaya Military Region, Major General Rafael Granada Baay, the Chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Inspector General Karyoto, and the Commander of the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Air Marshal Erwin Sugiandi.
In Brunei Darussalam, President Prabowo will receive a state welcome from His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah at the Nurul Iman Palace, Bandar Seri Begawan. Afterwards, President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will hold a bilateral meeting with delegates from each country.
In addition, during this visit, President Prabowo will also receive the award of the Great Star of the State of Brunei Darussalam "Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati" (DK) from Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. This series of visits will be closed with a state luncheon by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to President Prabowo.
"The award of the Star of Greatness of the State of Brunei Darussalam is given by the Sultanate of Brunei as a form of the highest respect for heads of state and world leaders who are considered to have contributed to advancing cooperative relations with Brunei Darussalam," said Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana in his written statement, quoted from Setkab.go.id.
Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam have been going on for a long time with diplomatic relations between the two countries for more than 40 years.
The meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah today is expected to open up opportunities for wider cooperation between the two countries in various strategic fields.
During his state visit to Brunei Darussalam, President Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister for Migrant Worker Protection Abdul Kadir Karding, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
