Jakarta: Indonesia will receive its second Airbus A400M/MRTT Alpha 4001 aircraft in February 2026. The additional aircraft will strengthen national capabilities in humanitarian missions and disaster management.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that this type of aircraft is designed not only for military purposes but also to support cross-regional humanitarian operations.
"The presence of this Airbus A400M/MRTT aircraft will be an important addition in strengthening the capabilities of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, not only in the defense sector, but also in responding to disasters and humanitarian missions," said Teddy, as quoted from the Cabinet Secretary's Instagram account and reported by Media Indonesia, Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
The aircraft is equipped with 66 medical stretchers, medical equipment, and firefighting facilities. With a carrying capacity of 37 tons and 160 passengers, the aircraft can fly for up to 11 hours without refueling.
The arrival of the second unit in early 2026 is expected to expand the Indonesian Air Force's reach in supporting regional humanitarian operations, particularly emergency response missions in Southeast Asia.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto handed over one A400M transport aircraft to the Indonesian Air Force. The Head of State plans to add up to four more units.
