Jakarta: Amidst the rapid development of national transportation infrastructure, the government is introducing a new breakthrough that directly impacts the lives of the common people: special trains for farmers and traders.
This mode of transportation is designed not simply as a means of transportation, but as a new lifeline connecting agricultural produce from villages to markets more quickly, cheaply, and efficiently.
This program stems from President Prabowo's administration's commitment to bringing economic justice from the grassroots level. Through the Ministry of Transportation and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), this people's logistics route was built as part of efforts to strengthen the national supply chain and reduce price disparities between villages and cities.
By utilizing the existing rail network, the special trains for farmers and traders provide an efficient, environmentally friendly, and people-oriented transportation solution.
During a visit to Manggarai Station on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, President Prabowo also took the time to personally inspect these special trains. These trains not only transport passengers but also harvests, merchandise, and daily necessities.
The President stated that this new facility reduces the burden on farmers and traders in the process of mobilizing agricultural products and business goods. With a series of carriages tailored to transport fresh commodities such as vegetables, fruit, and other agricultural products, this service is expected to cut costs while maintaining product quality upon arrival at city markets.
"Yes, I checked. So they only pay for themselves. They don't have to pay for their merchandise. The seats are side-by-side. The fare has probably already been set," said President Prabowo after the inauguration of Tanah Abang Baru Station on the same day, quoted from Setkab go id, Wednesday, 5 November 2025.
This initiative is part of the government's efforts to build an efficient and equitable logistics system so that all levels of society have access to safe, affordable, and efficient public facilities.
This special train for farmers and traders will serve routes to areas such as Rangkasbitung, Serang, and Merak, which serve as important routes connecting agricultural centers and major trading areas. The presence of this service is expected to be crucial in strengthening food security and improving the welfare of small businesses in various regions.
More than just a train journey, this step reflects President Prabowo Subianto's administration's commitment to ensuring that national transportation development always favors the people, the backbone of the nation's economy.
