President Prabowo Subianto has yet to Appoint the New Governor of Bank Indonesia

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto has yet to appoint a new Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor following Perry Warjiyo’s resignation on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
 
“For the time being, as stipulated under BI Law, the role will automatically be assumed by Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti,” State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.

Hadi said President Prabowo Subianto accepted Perry Warjiyo’s resignation and expressed his gratitude for his seven years of service.
 
“A Presidential Decree will soon be issued to honorably discharge him from the position, in accordance with established procedures,” he added.
 
Destry will serve as acting governor of BI, in accordance with Law No. 23 of 1999 on Bank Indonesia, until a permanent successor is appointed by the President.
