Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that Indonesia’s economy expanded by 5.39 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, marking the highest growth rate among G20 countries.
“This is the highest among the G20 countries. Moreover, year-on-year growth of 5.11 percent is also very strong,” he said after attending a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday 11 February 2026, as quoted from Antara.
In the real sector, Hartarto noted that manufacturing activity remained in expansion territory, with a Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) reading of 52.6. Consumer confidence also improved in January compared to the previous month.
The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) rose to 127 in January 2026, up from 123.5 in December, he added.
Domestic consumption also showed a positive trend. Real sales grew by 7.9 percent year-on-year, a sharp increase from the 3.5 percent growth recorded in December 2025.
On the external front, Indonesia posted a trade surplus of US$2.51 billion in December 2025, marking the 68th consecutive month of surplus.
Realized Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI) reached Rp1,931.2 trillion (USD111.7 billion).
“Foreign exchange reserves remain strong at USD154.6 billion, and credit growth is solid at 9.69 percent,” Hartarto said.
He added that Indonesia’s sovereign credit rating remains at investment grade across major international rating agencies. However, the government is paying close attention to Moody’s recent revision of its outlook to negative and is preparing appropriate policy responses.
On February 5, Moody’s affirmed Indonesia’s sovereign credit rating at Baa2 but revised the outlook from stable to negative.
The agency also changed its outlook to negative for five major Indonesian banks: Bank Mandiri, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bank Central Asia (BCA), and Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN).
