Jakarta: Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will accelerate its national digital transformation agenda in 2026, prioritizing the optimization of existing infrastructure to deliver programs with direct and measurable benefits for the public, Deputy Minister Nezar Patria said.
Patria said the ministry has established a solid policy foundation and must now move swiftly to execution, calling for faster, more precise and bolder decision-making while maintaining accountability.
“We must work faster, more precisely, and be bolder in our decisions, while still upholding accountability,” Patria said in a statement, as quoted by Antara on Friday.
He emphasized that digital infrastructure should function as a key driver of economic growth and a tool to improve the quality of human resources across regions.
To achieve these goals, Patria said the ministry must encourage a shift in bureaucratic culture toward greater responsiveness, adaptability and a stronger focus on measurable outcomes.
Among the remaining priorities, he highlighted the expansion of 4G cellular coverage in remote and underserved villages, as well as the strengthening of digital talent development, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
Patria added that supervision of the digital space will also be reinforced, alongside the full implementation of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on electronic system governance for child protection.
To ensure the 2026 agenda stays on track, the ministry has carried out internal consolidation through the signing of Performance Agreements and Employee Performance Targets for the year.
The agreements are intended to ensure that budget spending results in clear, measurable outputs that directly benefit the public.
Ministry Secretary General Ismail said signing the documents early in the year is a strategic step to align all work units with shared priorities.
“These documents ensure that from the start of 2026, every employee understands their targets and what must be delivered,” Ismail said.
He added that the ministry remains committed to implementing the president’s vision and policies as outlined in the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan and the ministry’s strategic plan.
