Jakarta: The government is expanding access to subsidized mortgages (KPR) for low-income earners, including Ojol drivers, through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) program.

Sid Herdi Kusuma, Deputy Commissioner for Utilization at BP Tapera, heralded the move as “a concrete step toward expanding homeownership opportunities for informal workers.”

To support the program, BP Tapera is partnering with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk to strengthen public outreach and education on subsidized mortgages. The collaboration will include joint outreach efforts, data sharing, publications, and educational campaigns delivered through partner apps.

“The goal is to ensure that more drivers have the opportunity to own a decent, quality, and affordable first home,” Sid Herdi remarked.

Strict verification process

BP Tapera emphasized a strict verification and eligibility process to ensure that financing assistance reaches its intended recipients.

“BP Tapera will verify the data of all applicants. The results of this verification will determine whether they are eligible for the program,” Sid Herdi explained.

To qualify, applicants must be between 21 and 45 years old, meet minimum trip completion and monthly online activity requirements, fall within the low-income category, and not already own a home.

Sid Herdi also highlighted the importance of financial literacy to the program’s success.

“Education (on financial management) must be provided on an ongoing basis to both the drivers and their family members. They need to understand the importance of managing their finances wisely, reducing unnecessary expenses, and maintaining a good credit history to remain eligible for the program,” he concluded.
