President Prabowo Inaugurates 204 New Military Units

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 204 new Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) units, including six regional military commands (kodam), during the military's 81st anniversary ceremony in Jakarta on Monday.

"This morning, Monday, October 5, 2026, by the grace of God Almighty, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, hereby inaugurate 204 new TNI units," the president stated before sounding a siren marking the new units' official inauguration, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 5, 2026.

The 204 units comprise six kodam, 30 Territorial Development Infantry Brigades, 150 Territorial Development Infantry Battalions, and three Combat Support Battalions.

The Indonesian Navy added one Marine brigade and four Marine battalions.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Air Force expanded by 10 units, ranging from the Quick Action Forces (Pasgat) Division II to radar units.

Following the launch, President Prabowo symbolically inducted the commanders of the six new regional military commands by handing over command batons and organisational flags to each regional commander.

The six new regional military commands include Kodam XXV/Mahmud Riayat Syah in Riau Islands, Kodam XXVI/Mataram in Yogyakarta, and Kodam XXVII/Sobe Sonbai in East Nusa Tenggara.

The other three are Kodam XXVIII/Moloku Kie Raha in North Maluku, Kodam XXIX/Mambruk in Central Papua, and Kodam XXX/Rinambora in West Nusa Tenggara.

Monday's ceremony, taking place at the PRIMA Field of the TNI Headquarters, involved 3,378 personnel from the Indonesian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Prominent figures in attendance included Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, and National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto.

Former Indonesian presidents Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Joko Widodo were also present.
