Jakarta: The Cyber Agency of the Central Board of the Ansor Youth Movement (PP GP Ansor) has urged comprehensive protection for victims of cybercrime in the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill.

“Regulations should guarantee victims protection, digital identity recovery and restoration, as well as legal and technical assistance,” remarked Head of the PP GP Ansor, Ahmad Luthfi, in a statement on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

Luthfi added that the bill should anticipate future technological developments pertaining to artificial intelligence (AI), including “various forms of digital manipulation that could potentially compromise national security or social stability.”

He also called for “a rapid reporting mechanism to accelerate mitigation and recovery processes.”

Adopting Best Practices

The PP GP Ansor encouraged lawmakers to adopt best practices from other countries, such as Singapore’s critical information infrastructure protection system, which includes mandatory incident reporting.

Other notable practices include the European Union’s (EU) NIS2 directive; Australia’s reporting obligations and critical infrastructure protections; and the United States’ (US) collaborative model – between government and the private sector – to address cyber threats.

“Indonesia must ensure that regulations are capable of protecting the public, strengthening national resilience, and adapting to the constantly evolving cyber threats,” Luthfi explained.

Prioritizing Transparency

The PP GP Ansor emphasized the need for transparency in deliberations on the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, noting that it will serve as the legal foundation for Indonesia’s digital ecosystem. The agency called for lawmakers to consult with academics, cybersecurity experts, industry players, civil society organizations, and professional associations.

“Good regulation stems from an open and participatory process, grounded in the public interest,” Luthfi asserted.
