Jakarta: The United States and Indonesia held the 21st Indonesia-United States Security Dialogue (IUSSD) on May 5 in Jakarta.  Heads of delegation were Dr. Andrew Byers, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) South and Southeast Asia (SSEA), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Major General Ujang Darwis, Director General of Defense and Strategy (DG STRAHAN).

The two sides reviewed the strength and success of the U.S.-Indonesian defense relationship, gave updates on their cooperation activities, and discussed concrete opportunities for enhanced partnership.

“Indonesia and the United States share a vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region,” said U.S. Embassy Spokesperson Jamie Ravetz.

“We are proud to be Indonesia’s largest defense partner and look forward to further expansion in defense ties,” added Ravetz

The U.S.-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) reflects a bilateral commitment to make both countries -and the broader region- safer, stronger, and more prosperous.

The United States looks forward to building on the 2023 Defense Cooperation Arrangement to advance mutual security in new areas such as space and cyberspace and is committed to continued efforts to enhance interoperability, including through the annual joint, multi-national Super Garuda Shield exercise.
