Nanik S. Deyang Steps Down as BGN Head, Sudaryono will take in Charge

Jakarta: Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik Sudaryati Deyang has resigned, citing a heart condition that requires medical treatment abroad.
 
“With a heavy heart, I informed the President of my decision to resign and seek treatment abroad. I hope to depart today, Wednesday (July 22),” she wrote in a statement posted on her personal social media account.
 
Nanik said she would seek a second medical opinion on her diagnosis abroad.
 
She added that she had consulted directly with the President.
 
“I told the President – with my sincerest apologies – of my decision to resign as Head of the BGN, for the sake of my health,” she said. “Out of concern for my condition, the President agreed, but asked me to remain involved in overseeing the agency.”
 
Despite her deteriorating health, Nanik pledged to continue supporting the President.
 
“I remain committed to supporting the President, who has been working tirelessly to improve the lives of the Indonesian people,” she said. “Having worked alongside him for 14 years, I know full well that the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is not intended for political gain, as some have claimed; it is a genuine effort to improve the health and nutrition of Indonesian children.”
 

Sudaryono Ready to Serve as Head of BGN

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono confirmed that he appointed President Prabowo Subianto to assume the position of Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Sudaryono replaces Nanik S Deyang who resigned due to health reasons.

Yes, the first thing I did was a call from Mr. (Seskab) Teddy, that there will be an inauguration this afternoon and afternoon, so thats right, said Sudaryono.

Regarding his readiness to lead the agency that manages the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, Sudaryono emphasized that this program is not something foreign to him. This is because the MBG concept was designed and maintained from the campaign period until the Presidents inauguration.

The MBG program is actually the Presidents priority program which was discussed long before the campaign, then became campaign material, after he was inaugurated as President, it was then implemented, said Sudaryono.
