Jakarta: Indonesia’s tax revenue reached Rp1,607.6 trillion as of September 30, 2026, equivalent to 68.2% of the 2026 state budget target, up 24.1% from the same period last year.
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said tax revenue growth was supported by economic activity and improvements in tax administration through the Coretax system.
“The factors include the improving implementation of Coretax. However, we also understand that we will soon ease the management of tax refunds. Colleagues at the Directorate General of Taxes have begun implementing this easing,” Suahasil said at a press conference on the state budget, known as APBN KiTa, at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara on Friday, October 9, 2026.
By tax category, non-oil and gas income tax revenue reached Rp809.3 trillion, up 17.6% year-on-year (yoy). Meanwhile, oil and gas income tax revenue surged 128.2% yoy to Rp43.6 trillion, in line with rising crude oil prices.
Value-added tax (VAT) and luxury goods sales tax (LGST) revenue totaled Rp683.3 trillion, up 38.6% from the same period last year. In contrast, land and building tax (PBB) and other tax revenue fell 24.8% to Rp71.4 trillion.
Article 21 Income Tax Revenue Grows 19%
By tax type, Article 21 income tax revenue reached Rp189.4 trillion, up 19% year-on-year. The growth was supported by higher employee incomes and improvements in tax administration through the Coretax system.Corporate income tax revenue also grew 29% to Rp276.7 trillion. Palm oil-related sectors mainly drove the increase, in line with rising commodity prices.
Meanwhile, domestic VAT revenue grew 51.3% to Rp369.5 trillion. One of the contributing factors was wholesale trade in fuel.
Government to Ease Tax Refund Management
Suahasil projected that domestic VAT revenue growth would moderate as the government eases its management of tax refunds.“Domestic VAT revenue is expected to moderate. It is currently growing by 51.3%, and this moderation will occur as tax refund management is adjusted,” he said.
Meanwhile, import VAT revenue reached Rp293.9 trillion, up 28.1% year-on-year. The increase was influenced by rising oil prices and the rupiah’s depreciation.
The government will continue to monitor tax revenue developments alongside improvements in tax administration and adjustments to tax refund management.
