Earthquake in Colombia, Indonesians Confirmed in a Safe Condition

Jakarta: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Indonesia through Indonesian Embassy in Bogota continues observing the development of the situation following the 7,4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on 10 August 2026 at 07:34 local time.

The epicentrum was in Department of Choco, around 280 kilometers from Bogota, and felt quite strong in multiple areas, including Bogota, Cali, Medellin, Pereira, Manizales, and Ibague.

Local authority reported by now at least 111 people have died because of this earthquake.

“Indonesian Embassy in Bogota has communicated with Indonesians who stay in the affected areas. Based on the monitoring of the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota, all Indonesians in Bogota reported in a safe condition,” explain the Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Republic of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, Tuesday, 11 August 2026.

“Indonesian Embassy in Bogota will continue observing the development of the situation and coordinate with Indonesians in affected areas, including for emergency measures if aftershocks occur,” said Heni.

The government of Colombia is known has activated the national emergency response mechanism and formed an Integrated Command Post for coordination of the response and needs assessment in affected areas.
