Sydney: President Prabowo Subianto met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Kirribilli House in Sydney on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, to reinforce the long-standing strategic partnership between Indonesia and Australia.
The meeting was part of President Prabowo’s state visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation and advancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by PM Albanese upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s official residence. The cordial reception, held in the front courtyard of Kirribilli House, reflected the strong personal rapport between the two leaders.
After signing the state guest book as a diplomatic formality, the leaders proceeded to a private discussion.
The closed-door meeting took place in a friendly yet substantive atmosphere, focusing on strengthening cooperation across key sectors including trade and investment, security and defense, education, maritime affairs, and people-to-people exchanges. Both leaders also emphasized the importance of maintaining regional stability and advancing industrial cooperation at the bilateral level.
The meeting underscored the significance of the Indonesia–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which evolved from the 2005 Comprehensive Partnership framework and was elevated to its current level during Albanese’s 2018 visit to Jakarta.
President Prabowo’s visit, his first to Australia since taking office, reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to fostering foreign relations based on equality and mutual benefit. Through this dialogue, both leaders expressed optimism about expanding concrete cooperation to address emerging regional and global challenges together.
