Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto, attended the BRICS Leaders Virtual Meeting from his private residence in Kertanegara, South Jakarta, on Monday, September 8, 2025. The meeting, held online, brought together leaders of BRICS member countries to discuss global issues of common concern.
Prabowo presented Indonesia's views and positions on a number of global issues in the fourth session. In his speech, the Head of State affirmed Indonesia's full support for various initiatives generated within the BRICS forum.
"We fully support the initiatives that have been taken. We appreciate President Lula's leadership, and Indonesia is committed to working more closely with all BRICS countries," Prabowo said, as quoted in a press release on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
The meeting was attended by several heads of state and high-level representatives, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Russian President Vladimir Putin, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos, and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Brazilian President Lula da Silva opened the virtual meeting by delivering his views. Following this, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi presented their views in second and third place.
The forum provides a platform for leaders to exchange views on global economic developments and the current state of the multilateral system. Geopolitical conditions and global economic dynamics also influence the stability of international trade and the prospects for economic growth in various regions.
Indonesia's participation reflects the government's commitment to supporting constructive international dialogue. Indonesia's presence in the BRICS forum demonstrates its efforts to expand its active role in global governance and forge strategic partnerships that can deliver tangible benefits to society.
