Lumajang: The eruption of Mount Semeru left a pyroclastic cloud that swept into residential areas. The number of victims affected by the pyroclastic cloud has now increased to three.
Among the victims exposed to the pyroclastic cloud are known to have suffered serious burns. Consequently, the Lumajang Regency government has declared a seven-day emergency response period, starting Thursday morning, November 20, 2025.
This is a measure to expedite post-disaster recovery. A joint SAR team from Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency) and the Lumajang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) conducted another evacuation of Mount Semeru eruption victims in Sumbersari Hamlet, Sesa Supit Urang, Pronojiwo District, on Thursday morning.
The victims were immediately rushed to a public hospital for medical treatment. Lumajang Regent Indah Amperawati officially declared a seven-day emergency response period to address and recover from the impacts of the eruption.
Meanwhile, until now a number of residents in the two sub-districts, Candipuro and Pronojiwo, are still taking refuge in a number of safe points, such as the village office, sub-district office and a number of schools.
