Pilot Caught Smuggling 26 Kilograms of Ecstasy Pills

Tangerang: Customs officers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport have thwarted an attempt to smuggle 26 kilograms of MDMA (ecstasy) into Indonesia.
 
The illegal narcotics were uncovered during an X-ray screening at the airport’s International Arrivals area on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
 
The suspect, identified by the initials MSO, is a Malaysian national who allegedly works as a pilot for an international airline. Upon flagging the suitcase, the passenger was directed to the red channel for further inspection.
 
Customs officers subsequently examined the suitcase and discovered 14 packages of pills with a gross weight of 26 kilograms. They also found four grams of methamphetamine in another bag.
 
Preliminary tests using a field drug test kit and a Rigaku analyzer returned positive results for MDMA. The suspect later admitted that the illicit goods were intended to be collected by another individual.
 
They have since been transferred to Sub-directorate 2 of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency’s Narcotics Directorate for further investigation.
