Meeting with Putin, President Prabowo to Discuss Energy Security

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia, on Sunday evening, April 12, 2026.
The visit is part of an effort to strengthen strategic cooperation amidst evolving global dynamics.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated in a written statement that President Prabowo departed for Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"Just before midnight on Sunday, April 12, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia," said the Cabinet Secretary, as quoted from the Presidenri.go.id website, Monday, April 13, 2026.
The journey to Moscow will take approximately 12 hours of non-stop flight on the national airline Garuda Indonesia, with an estimated arrival on Monday morning local time. "President Prabowo is scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting with President Vladimir Putin in the afternoon," Cabinet Secretary Teddy explained.
According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the meeting between the two leaders is crucial amidst the dynamic global landscape. "Amidst constantly changing global dynamics, this meeting is crucial," he said.
In the meeting's agenda, Cabinet Secretary Teddy stated that the two leaders would discuss a number of strategic issues, including strengthening national energy security through continued cooperation with the Russian government.
"Continuing cooperation with the Russian government and ensuring a stable national energy supply, including oil availability," Cabinet Secretary Teddy said.
Furthermore, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy, the two heads of state will also exchange views on global geopolitical developments. "They will voice Indonesia's strategic position in maintaining global stability and peace," Cabinet Secretary Teddy concluded.
For the record, the Heads of State and their limited entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at approximately 11:10 PM Western Indonesian Time. President Prabowo was seen off by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Head of the State Intelligence Agency Muhammad Herindra.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the visit were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
