Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s steadfast support for the Palestinian struggle, particularly amid the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. He delivered the statement during a joint press appearance with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Prabowo said Indonesia continues to align its foreign policy with countries that share the same principles regarding Palestine.
"We are aligning our foreign policy because we share the same stance and values, especially concerning Palestine and Gaza. Our foreign ministers remain in close communication, and we will always maintain a united position on this matter," he emphasized, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday 10 December 2025.
He reiterated that Indonesia will not waver in its long-standing support for Palestine and remains committed to promoting solutions that could bring lasting peace to the region.
Prabowo added that Indonesia seeks to strengthen ties with nations that uphold similar views, hoping that deeper cooperation will amplify its diplomatic efforts for Palestine and generate tangible contributions.
During the visit, Indonesia and Pakistan signed seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements across several sectors. The signing ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s official residence (PM House), witnessed by both leaders.
The agreements form a framework for collaboration in higher education, halal product trade and certification, MSME development, counter-narcotics efforts, and healthcare improvement.
Prabowo and PM Sharif also held a one-on-one meeting, followed by a bilateral session between the two governments. The visit marked Prabowo’s first time at the PM House in Islamabad and coincided with the anniversary of Indonesia–Pakistan diplomatic relations.
