Prabowo Claims to Have Saved IDR300 Trillion from Potential Corruption in Ministries and Agencies

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto said he has saved hundreds of trillions of rupiah in state funds from potential misuse across executive institutions this year. The funds were redirected to programs deemed pro-people.

“I had no choice but to lead efforts to eradicate corruption and irregularities in all executive institutions and government bodies. That is why, at the start of 2025, we identified and safeguarded IDR 300 trillion from the state budget that we considered vulnerable to misuse,” President Prabowo stated during his Annual State Address at the Parliamentary Complex on Friday, August 15, 2025.

According to President Prabowo, the reduced allocations included massive budgets for foreign and domestic official travel, disproportionately large expenditures for office supplies, and various other posts that he described as long-standing sources of corruption and waste.

Budget efficiency mandated by the Constitution

The president stressed that budget efficiency is a constitutional mandate under the 1945 Constitution. The hundreds of trillions in savings, he said, were redirected to more productive programs that can be directly felt by the people.

“For years, there has been massive leakage of state wealth. Therefore, I am obliged to take the necessary steps, even though they may be difficult and unpopular for certain parties,” Prabowo asserted.

Earlier this morning, President Prabowo delivered his State of the Nation Address during the 2025 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI) and the Joint Session of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) at the Nusantara Building, Senayan, Jakarta.

Later in the day, after Friday prayers, the president is also scheduled to present the State Budget Financial Note and the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN 2026) at the DPR’s Annual Session.
