Jakarta: The Coordinating Minister of Financial Sector Airlangga Hartanto stated that the government has selected candidate for the governor of Indonesia International Financial Center (PFII). The candidate is from the government sector.
“(We) already have the candidate, from within the government,” said Airlangga after attending Meeting of Members of the Indonesian Issuers Association (AEI) 2026, titled “Regaining Investor Trust: Navigating the Future of Indonesian Listed Companies”, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
Airlangga explained that the establishment of PFII is a key milestone before the management is appointed. Therefore, the process of appointing the governor and organizational structure cannot be announced in a near time.
Nevertheless, Airlangga confirmed that the government had nominated the governor candidate of PFII as a part of the operational preparation of the institution after all of the process of institutional formation finished as planned.
However, Airlangga declined to reveal the name of the candidate when being asked, but he ensured that the candidate came from the government sector and would be announced in due course.
He stressed that the official announcement regarding the governor candidate and organisational structure of PFII would be realised after all of the steps of institutional establishment had been completed in accordance with a mechanism prepared by the government.
Refining The Location of PFII
Other than discussing leadership, Airlangga reveals that the government is also still refining the operational location of PFII by considering several alternatives deemed strategic to provide institutional function.According to Airlangga, one of considered locations is in the area of InJourney, near I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali. Including Jakarta is also in the initial option.
The government is still reviewing the best location so that it can not confirm yet whether Danareksa in Jakarta or other locations that will be appointed as the office of that institution.
Airlangga said all the decisions regarding leadership and location of PFII would be confirmed after the official institution was established, so that the transition process could proceed in accordance with applicable regulations.
“One of the options that is considered is Injourney area in Bali, near the airport. But Jakarta is also considered for the initial period. After being established (the final decision) can be made,” stated Airlangga.
Whilst regarding the announcement schedule, Airlangga recommended the public to wait for the speech of President Prabowo Subianto about the Financial Statement on 14th August 2026.
“On 14 (August), please listen to the president’s speech,” he said shortly.
