President Prabowo Directs Government Expenditures Toward Priority Programs

Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto has instructed his economic officials to focus state spending on important programs. This was conveyed by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani after a meeting with ministers from the Red and White Cabinet led by Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

During the meeting, the President received a progress report on the ongoing deliberations on the State Budget (APBN) in the House of Representatives (DPR). According to the Minister, Prabowo provided comprehensive and strategic direction.

"The President's direction is very comprehensive. Reforms on the state revenue side are continuing to be implemented so that we can obtain adequate state revenue. Spending is focused on important programs," said Sri Mulyani in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

She also stated that the President places great emphasis on efforts to maintain a healthy budget deficit. In line with this, Prabowo also asked his officials to ensure that the APBN continues to play a role as an instrument supporting national economic growth.

"He said that if market confidence is maintained, our economy will continue to grow, and support for the economy through the State Budget and countercyclical measures can be implemented," explained the Minister of Finance.

In addition to the fiscal framework, Sri Mulyani also stated that the President emphasized the importance of deregulation. The goal is to create a conducive business climate and encourage sustainable economic growth. This way, economic growth will no longer be dependent on state coffers.

"So, in this case, various regulatory improvements will be made to facilitate business, investment, and trade, and especially to encourage more intermediaries and good governance," Sri Mulyani explained.

The final results of the State Budget deliberations will be presented directly by the President in his state address at the House of Representatives Plenary Session on August 15th.
