Jakarta: After officially receiving amnesty from the Myanmar military authorities, Indonesian Instagram celebrity AP is now entering the final phase of her repatriation process.
According to a written statement from the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs received on Sunday, July 20, 2025, the amnesty decree has been issued by Myanmar authorities and serves as the primary legal basis for AP's release and deportation.
The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon received information from Myanmar authorities that AP had been deported to Bangkok. The deportation took place on the evening of Saturday, July 19, 2025.
According to diplomatic sources, the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon has not only overseen AP's legal process since December 2024 but also ensured his safety up until his deportation to Bangkok. There, a team from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok has taken over and is currently arranging AP's repatriation to Jakarta.
The official letter confirming the granting of amnesty -,with official Myanmar letterhead and stamp,- confirms that AP has met the requirements for release on humanitarian grounds. The authenticity of the document has been confirmed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is being used as the basis for further negotiations with the Thai government.
The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the support of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, including in countries with unstable political situations like Myanmar. Intensive diplomatic efforts over seven months have finally yielded results, seen as a victory for Indonesian humanitarianism and quiet diplomacy.
