787 Houses in Sigi Damaged by Earthquake

Sigi: 787 houses damaged in five sub-districts across the Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, following earthquake.
Accounted for are 707 houses with minor damage, 68 houses with moderate damage, and 12 houses with severe damage.
“Preliminary reports (from the night of the earthquake) indicated that 17 villages spread across five sub-districts –,Sigi Kota, Palolo, Nokilalaki, Tanambulava, and Lindu,– were severely affected by the earthquake," said Henri Kusuma, Head of the Sigi Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as quoted by Antara on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Kusama expanded, stating that 912 families accounting for 1.412 people had been directly impacted by the earthquake.
"One resident has been found dead, 42 have reportedly suffered minor injuries, and 13 others have suffered serious injuries. All victims are being treated by the medical teams at the community health centers, and at Torabelo Regional Hospital," he explained.
Sigi Regent, Moh Rizal Intjenae, ensured that the necessary aid would be delivered to the residents of Kamarora A and Kamarora B, villages in the Nokilalaki District.
“I have gathered the heads of all relevant technical regional government agencies (OPDs) to expedite recovery efforts for the earthquake-affected areas," said Rizal.
He further instructed the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), village heads, and sub-district heads to work in unison to assess the total damages within a 24-hour time span. He further added that “we have also begun distributing food, clean water, and have set up emergency tents in the Nokilalaki and Palolo Districts."
A report from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) measured the tectonic earthquake that struck the Palu area, Central Sulawesi at 10:27 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB) on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at a magnitude of 6.7.
BMKG later confirmed that the epicenter of the earthquake took place on land, at the coordinates 1.13 degrees South Latitude (LAS), and 120.23 degrees East Longitude (BT), 42 kilometers southeast of Palu City.
