Prabowo Instructed PLN-Pertamina to Trim Subsidiaries and Subs

Bogor: President Prabowo Subianto directed the State-owned Enterprises (BUMN) executive, particularly Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (Pertamina) and State Electricity Company (PLN), to streamline the group’s subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries, also the business unit under them.

This statement was stated at a closed-door meeting in the president's private residence, Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, Sunday Night, August 9, 2026. President issued that direct instruction to some ministers and President Director of PT Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, who attended the meeting, described that subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries streamlining aimed to accelerate decision making process, especially at crucial time and issue.

“At that meeting, President Prabowo also instructed layers, and subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries reducing in Pertamina, PLN, and other BUMN. The reduction is intended so that decision-making becomes faster, productivity increases, and efficiency across all BUMN is maintained better,” Said Teddy, as reported by Antara, Monday,  August 10,  2026.

At that meeting, Teddy said President Director of PT Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri also reported the progress of mandatory program, biodiesel 50 percent (B50), since it was released in Juli 2026. Simon the reported directly to the president on the state of Pertamina’s infrastructure in relation to implement government’s bioethanol mandatory program.

Regarding efficiency within BUMN, the CEO of Daya Anagata Investment Management Agency (Danantara) Rosan Perkasa Roeslani has reported the update of president’s instruction in terms of layers reduction, including subsidiaries and sub-subsidiaries, last week.

“His (president) directives also aim to reduce layers, especially at large BUMN (such as) Pertamina, PLN, and others so that decision-making also can be faster, productivity is also more enhanced, efficiency more maintained, and of course (followed by) the other BUMN” said Rosan in Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, August 6,  2026.
