Brussels: The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, held a bilateral meeting with the President of the European Council, António Costa, on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the Europa Building in Brussels, Belgium. Upon arrival, President Prabowo was officially welcomed by President Costa.

Afterward, President Prabowo and President Costa proceeded to the flag-raising room and took a group photo. The two leaders then proceeded to the meeting room on the 11th floor.

The Head of State was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Investment and Downstream Development/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Belgium Andri Hadi.

This meeting marked a significant milestone in Indonesia-European Union relations, marked by significant progress in the negotiations on the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA). The President called this agreement a strategic step towards a more equal and mutually beneficial future for global partnerships.

"Today is a very historic day for me. After 10 years of sometimes difficult negotiations, today we have achieved a breakthrough," said President Prabowo as quoted from Presidential Secretary website, Monday 14 July 2025.

According to the Head of State, the IEU-CEPA agreement reflects the shared trust between the two major world powers in building inclusive and values-based economic cooperation. President Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia and Europe have complementary ties in the fields of technology, energy, food, and essential minerals.

"We view Europe as a very important region and hope that Europe can continue to play a central role in maintaining global peace and stability. The world is clearly moving toward a multipolar order," added President Prabowo.

President Prabowo also outlined his vision to open more educational and health opportunities for Indonesia's younger generation through cooperation with Europe, as well as to create a healthy and sustainable investment environment for businesses from both sides.

"Once again, we look forward to closer and stronger cooperation in the future," concluded the President.
