Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto chaired the 8th Cabinet Meeting. During the meeting, the Head of State emphasized the challenges facing Indonesia amidst geopolitical and geoeconomic issues.
"When we began our administration on October 20, the geopolitical and geoeconomic situation was not as complex as it is now," Prabowo said, as quoted by the Presidential Secretariat (Setpres) YouTube channel on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The President explained that geopolitics is caused by wars in various parts of the world, which have resulted in significant casualties.
"We ourselves are in a conflict in Myanmar, and there's no clear direction for resolving it peacefully, although we will continue to support ASEAN in seeking peaceful solutions in our neighbors," he said.
Prabowo also mentioned that Indonesia is facing geoeconomic challenges. One of the causes is the imposition of import tariffs by the United States.
"Not to mention, we are facing global geoeconomic conditions, the transmission caused by tariffs imposed by the United States. We are facing it calmly," he said.
